The Happy Mind
All of us want to be happy, and The Happy Mind is a powerful roadmap for how to get there.
—Marianne Williamson, author of A Return to Love
Most books on happiness emphasize what you have to do or get in order to be happy. But happiness is a state of mind inside, and not a state of affairs in the world.
Your happiness is a reflection of your mind’s ability to experience happiness. Your mind’s ability to experience happiness is determined by your thoughts and beliefs. If your core beliefs are incompatible with the experience of perfect happiness, then all the stuff and all the techniques in the world will not bring you what you want.
The Happy Mind offers an alternative way of thinking based on seven simple principles. This new way of thinking enables you to undo the limits and distortions of your current way of thinking, and thus allows your mind to experience deep and lasting happiness. Your happy state of mind is the single most effective tool for discovering your true desires, and realizing and manifesting them. And your own happy and peaceful state of mind is also the most healing gift you can offer to another.
The Happy Mind is a thoughtful collection of wisdom and insight from William Yoder, who presents a combination of western and eastern philosophy with the goal of finding what one’s true happiness and making choices that will maintain that happiness. The Happy Mind is a thoughtful read with much to ponder, highly recommended.

The Seven Principles for Happiness
These basic core beliefs allow our minds to experience deep and lasting happiness. It turns out that each principle is the exact opposite of an everyday belief that we simply take for granted—an everyday belief that actually restricts our ability to be happy. Find out more about these seven core principles.
From the back cover:
Happy? Take a look inside.
It’s time to start thinking differently about happiness. Most of the books on the subject tell us how to get what we want—money, possessions, recognition, relationships. The implicit message is that these external things are the source of our happiness. But it’s this very mindset that ensures we will never experience lasting happiness. We need a way to make happiness the starting point and not the destination, a driving force and not a whim of fortune.
The Happy Mind gives you a simple set of core beliefs that opens you to a ready supply of contentment, joy and love—in short, more happiness. You’ll approach your work, your relationships, and everything you do with a new focus, energy and excitement that come not from external forces, but from the very core of your being.
You’ll discover:
- Seven myth-shattering principles to guide you to a deeper and more sustainable happiness
- Intellectually and spiritually satisfying insights into the question of happiness
- Practical and actionable answers to the question, “What does it take to be happy?”
- Exhilarating alternatives to the choices you’ve made in the past
- How happiness is the key to healing hurt, helping others, and manifesting your dreams
William Yoder, Ph.D., brings a doctorate in philosophy, 10 years of university teaching experience, and an immersion in both Eastern and Western philosophy to the creation of The Happy Mind. His workshops and presentations on health and healing, human potential, and spirituality have uplifted audiences for more than 30 years.

Bill,
I had an opportunity to quickly review your site. I very much like the title and cover of the book as well as the descriptions provided. I intend to explore more within the next couple days. I’m impressed.

If I order this book today 12/20, how soon will it arrive at my home in Ann Arbor, Michigan?
The books are mailed out from upstate New York via USPS priority mail within a day after I receive the order. So I would assume that Ann Arbor would take a couple days. When I mail them, you get a confirmation email with a tracking number, so you can go online and find out exactly where they are.
Merry Christmas!
Bill
I continue to use this book as a reference and reminder of how to live with more joy and peace.
